John O’Donoghue is the General Counsel at ORIX Aviation and began working for the company in September 2018.
He has held a number of positions within the ORIX Aviation Legal Department, from Vice President Legal, Corporate Counsel and Compliance Officer, Head of Commercial Negotiation to Assistant General Counsel. In his roles John has been responsible for negotiating and documenting all transactional matters on behalf of the company, including operating lease transactions; sale and leaseback transactions, aircraft sale agreements, portfolio acquisitions and divestments, lease novations/transfers, lease restructurings, loan restructurings, aircraft repossessions, deferral arrangements, bankruptcy claims and maintenance provider agreements. He was appointed to the role of General Counsel, ORIX Aviation on April 1, 2025.
Prior to joining ORIX John was a solicitor at Arthur Cox LLP in Dublin, he was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors by the Law Society of Ireland in January 2012. He holds a Bachelor of Civil Law (International) and Diploma in International Services Law from University College Dublin and he has also attended DePaul University College of Law.
